“I love you. You are perfect. You are doing everything right.” These are the words of a beautiful young woman who is known as a dog whisperer. She says these words and dogs flock to her. With words of true understanding and connection.
How often can you say these words to yourself:
I love you.
You are perfect.
You are doing everything right.
I am going to bet that it’s not too often. And I am also going to bet that it is easy for you to say it to other people.
You are a people too.
You deserve the same kindness, to yourself, that you offer so freely to others.
Many of you are going through really difficult things. Injections. Egg retrievals. Recovering from a pregnancy loss. Embryo transfers. Beloved pets have died. People you love are ill. Feeling lonely. Feeling lost in grief and loss. Being afraid that you will never be OK.
I love you.
You are perfect.
You are doing everything right.
Will you repeat it with me, aloud?
I love you.
You are perfect.
You are doing everything right.
If this is hard for you, please remember that every day is a brand new day, one that you have never been in before. Enter each day gently. Please don’t prejudge it or yourself. When we are predeciding things, forcing things, pushing it, we forget how to care for ourselves. Back off a little. Slow down. Be gentle with yourself and see what happens…
